Luigi Bianchi

He was born in Gallipoli on 9.10.1875 and died on 16.9.1958. The son of Giuseppe and D’Elia Rachele, he was the nephew of the canon Francesco D’Elia, a well-known Gallipoli historian of whom the portrait that our Giuseppe Forcignanò made of him is preserved in the civic museum.

A graduate in literature, he followed in his uncle’s footsteps, devoting himself to fruitful studies in literature and local history. He contributed to numerous magazines and newspapers whose clippings are now preserved in the local municipal library.
