“Tito Schipa” Theatre, today also seat of a cinema, was built at the beginning of the 20th century.
In its first version, when it was still called “El Dorado” it was built in wood and many of its structures could be easily dismantled and reshaped. Part of the wooden structure was reused for the construction of the boxes; moreover many stuccos and velvets were recovered during the restoration completed in 1998. After a short period during which its name was “Teatro Nuovo” (New Theatre), in 1962 there was the dedication to the famous Salentinian tenor Tito Schipa.
Today it hosts theatrical performances that alternate with film projection and it has got six hundred comfortable seats.
