Stefano Catalano
Born around 1553, he was a teacher and tutor of many young people of Gallipoli who, in 1620, after his death, wanted to leave a grateful memory of him in a beautiful Latin inscription in San Francesco d’ Assisi. He left a description of the City of Gallipoli, made on the model of the Descriptio by Galateo, in addition to a short treatise on the origin of the City of Gallipoli, dedicated to Giovan Battista Crispo, whom he also wrote a biography to.
